Nigerian midfielder, Peace Efih has expressed her joy at scoring her first goal for the Super Falcons on her debut in their 4-0 victory against Burundi at the 2022 Women’s African Cup of Nations on Sunday.
After kickstarting their title defense with a 2-0 win over Botswana last Thursday, the Falcons needed a win to qualify for a place in the WAFCON quarter-finals and keep their La Decima hopes alive.
The Falcons were fairly comfortable and controlled the game for nearly the entire 90 minutes.
Forward Rasheedat Ajibade, the star girl of the Nigerians, scored the first goal of the night in the 25th minute before the Athletic Madrid woman provided the second for debutant, Peace Efih in the 29th minute.
On Monday, Efih took to her social media page to share her pleasure at scoring her first goal for the defending champions.
“I’m super excited to have scored in my first debut at CAFwomen to secure a permanent victory,” she wrote.
The 21-year-old is not new to setting landmarks having scored the lone goal in Nigeria’s first game at the 2018 WAFU Zone B Women’s Cup.
With the result, the Falcons are set for a potentially exciting clash with perennial rivals Cameroon in their last eight clash on Thursday.
