NEWS UPDATE: Zambia: ‘This is how it should be’ – PDP hails President Lungu for conceding

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has lauded Zambia’s President Edgar Lungu for tolerating defeat.

National Chairman, Uche Secondus likewise saluted the Zambian resistance pioneer, Hakainde Hichilema, on his victory.

Lungu and Hichilema met on Monday, hours after the opposition leader won the official election.

The pair consented to cooperate during a conference at the home of a previous pioneer, Rupiah Banda.

In participation were Commonwealth Chief Observer, ex-Tanzania’s President Jakaya Kikwete and AU Chief political decision Observer, ex-Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma.

Secondus, in a proclamation, noticed that the “sweet triumph will assist with extending popular government in Africa”.

He applauded the Zambian Electoral Commission and the security organizations for permitting the desire of individuals to prevail.

“This is the way it ought to be, PDP did it in Nigeria in 2015 and balanced out our majority rules system”, Secondus said of Lungu’s ceding.

The PDP pioneer encouraged other African nations to “follow the uplifting news emerging from Zambian democracy”.
