Former Aston Villa striker, Gabby Agbonlahor, has urged Manchester United to sell Donny van de Beek in the Jan transfer window.
Agbonlahor claimed that Man United are trapping Van de Beek at Old Trafford, adding that the midfielder’s state of affairs at the guild is ‘turning into a joke’.
Van de Beek joined Man United from Ajax for £40m in the summertime of 2020.
The Netherlands international has endured a hard spell at Man United, falling out of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad.
He is yet to start a league game for Man United so far this flavour.
Asked whether he thinks Man United will allow Van de Beek leave of absence in Jan, Agbonlahor told Football Insider: “I think they will.
“It’s turning into a joke at present. United demand to just allow him go and play football. You are trapping him at the guild and not giving him whatsoever minutes.
“With the performances of Fred and [Scott] McTominay, Van de Beek deserves a chance to demonstrate what he can do.
“Manchester United United demand to allow him go in Jan and play some football. The kid just wants to play football.
“He needs a run of games. Not just the occasional 60 minutes. Give him a run of games.”
