NEWS UPDATE: Yobe assembly moves to scrap land, survey ministry

The Yobe Province House of Assembly is making a frantic displace to scrap the province’s Ministry building of Earth and Survey.

This followed the adoption of a written report of its Standing Commission on Earth on a bill seeking the establishment of Yobe Geographic Information Entity (YOGIS) in the province.

The House adopted the written report after extensive deliberations on the recommendations of the commission by the members.

Speaking after the adoption of the written report, the Chairman, House Commission on Earth, Hon. Buba Maina Sale, said the Geographic Information Entity Agency when established would improve the authorities’s source of revenue.

Hon. Sale also famous that the establishment of the agency will pave way for the scrapping of the Ministry building of Earth and Survey spell the ministry building’s professional person staff would work under the new agency in add-on to redeploying others to relevant Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs).

The chairman of the commission commended members of the House for their various contributions towards the success of the written report at all levels.

Presiding over the sitting, the Deputy Speaker of the House, Hon. Mohammed Isa Bello said the House has adopted all the recommendations of the commission with slight amendment spell directing the receptionist of the Assembly to supply a make clean re-create of the written report for the third and final reading of the Bill.

The establishment of YOGIS, as good as the scraping off the earth and survey ministry building by the lawmakers, is to avoid duplication of function and ensure effective earth direction in the province.
