Jigawa Province Regime says it will not allow the local Governments financial autonomy to touch on the lineament of the province wellness attention delivery.
This is according to the province Deputy Governor Malam Umar Namadi at a Public Policy Dialogue on wellness, organised by the Jigawa Human Working capital Evolution Initiative (JG-HCD) supported by PERL, held at Manpower Evolution Institute, Dutse the province working capital.
During a policy dialogue to improve Basic Health Services in the province, issues that touch on the effective service delivery of Primary Health attention facilities due to autonomy were raised
Issues such as lack of human resources, maintenance and lack of drugs in some hospitals under the province wellness insurance were identified.
Responding to the challenges, the province Deputy Governor said improving the wellness status of Jigawa citizens was the top precedence of the administration.
“I think there is no dot you build a infirmary, provide staff, facilities and no plans for the maintenance of the infirmary”
“Before the local Governments autonomy, we had a policy on ground that the province ministry building of wellness has a revolving fund of N10m used to preserve the Primary Health attention facilities”
“Local Regime autonomy caused that to be suspended, we will hence seem at it critically because the issue of wellness is everyone’s business, the local Regime autonomy I am certain will not be allowed to touch on this administration’s drive to supply lineament wellness to its citizens”
Namadi added that human resources for wellness is some other area that is critical to the implementation of wellness policies and agenda.
He said some local Governments are experiencing shortages of manpower in their primary wellness attention facilities due to the local Governments autonomy.
According to him ” The province regime is also working to complement the local Governments by paying 40% salaries of the local regime’s wellness workers and transfer the salary and administration to the primary wellness attention evolution agency to ensure equitable distribution of manpower”
The Deputy Governor, notwithstanding, assured of the administration’s readiness to ensure it gives the wellness Sector the attending it deserves.
