Two persons were killed while five others were injured in a clash between herdsmen and farmers in the Guri Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The incident happened on Friday around 02:30 AM at Magirami bush in Guri Local Government.
Jigawa State Police Command spokesman, ASP Lawan Shiisu Adam confirmed the incident.
He said on receiving the report of the unrest, a team of police officers were mobilized to the scene.
He explained that two persons were discovered dead while five others sustained various degrees of injuries.
According to him “on their arrival two corpses of one Umar Abdul RaHusa and an unidentified man were recovered, also five-person injured.”
He said the victims were rushed to Guri General Hospital and two were confirmed dead by a medical doctor while five are currently receiving treatment.
Shiisu said police succeeded in arresting a 25-year-old man, Adamu Ahmadu of Galdimari Fulani settlement in connection with the incident.
He said the area was fortified and enforcement was deployed, surveillance/foot and vehicle patrol intensified.
He said the investigation is in progress, and efforts are on to arrest the fleeing suspects.
He noted that normalcy had already been restored in the area.
