The Nigerian armed forces thwarted an endeavour by the Islamist Province’s Westward Africa Province (ISWAP) to onrush a campsite of repentant Boko Haram members in Borno.
Troops pushed dorsum insurgents as they moved towards their targeted location in Damboa Local Regime Area.
The fighters stormed Damboa town in a convoy of gun trucks Saturday even, sources told PRNigeria.
“The campsite is where hundreds of repentant Boko Haram members have been staying since they renounced terrorism,” an officer said.
The intelligence disclosed that forces were deployed to face the ISWAP marauders after a distress telephone.
“Though the terrorists were repelled in a brutal gunfire, I cannot give the number of casualties they could have suffered”, he added.
