Nigeria Customs operatives in Katsina Province have been fingered in one case once more for shooting at villagers in Fadi Gurje Village at Mani Local Regime Area of the province.
According to study made available by the Katsina Province Law Public Relations Officer, SP. Isah Gambo, the trigger-happy customs personnel allegedly stormed the village shooting sporadically into the air patch riding their patrol vehicle.
Gambo said in the course of study of the onrush, the customs officers allegedly shot one Auwal Sani on the leg who is currently at the Katsina Orthopaedic Infirmary.
The yet to be identified customs personnel were said to have disappeared into lean air now after the onrush.
He said, “Written report reaching my desk reveals that Nigerian Custom Service personnel within a patrol vehicle stormed Fadi Gurje village, Mani LGA of Katsina province firing several shots into the air and escaped to unknown destination.
“Consequently, one Auwal Sani, M, aged 35 years of the same address was shot on the leg. Victim was rushed to Orthopedic Infirmary, Katsina for handling.
“Efforts are ongoing with a view of finding the identity of the erring officers and bringing them to justice. The Commissioner of Law, Katsina Province has called for calm in the affected community and enjoins them to go in relation to their lawful business as the police force are working closely with the Nigerian Customs Service’s leadership with a view to resolve the job and bringing perpetrators to book,” SP. Gambo Isah said
Meanwhile, efforts to hit Danbaba Isah, the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Customs Service to throw to a greater extent visible radiation on the evolution failed as calls place through to his phone line were not reachable.
Latterly, customs operatives in the province were accused of attacking the convoy of the Secretarial assistant to the Province Regime, Mustapha Inuwa, where they riddled one of his vehicles with bullets.
