The Police force in Ogun Province on Saturday said that they have arrested a 21-year-old armed robbery suspect spell carrying out a robbery surgical procedure at Sango-Ota area of the province.
Police force spokesman in Ogun, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Ota, Ogun.
Oyeyemi said the suspect was arrested on September 14 next a distress phone received by the law at in relation to 9.45 p.m.
He added that a two-man armed robbery syndicate was attacking one Rasaq Hamed at Ile Pupa Iloye area, in Sango-Ota, to dispossess him of his motorcar.
“Upon the information, the Divisional Police force Officer (DPO), Sango-Ota, CSP Godwin Idehai, chop-chop mobilized his patrol squad and moved to the scene.
“On getting to the scene, the robbers, who were shooting sporadically, took to their heels, but they were hotly chased and one of them was arrested with the aid of members of the community, spell the other one escaped,” he said.
The PPRO said that items law recovered from the suspects were 4 live cartridges and one expended cartridge.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police force in Ogun, CP Edward Ajogun, had ordered a manhunt for the fleeing fellow member of the gang.
He also directed that the suspect arrested should be transferred to the Province Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for discreet investigation.
