NEWS UPDATE: Police arrest ‘bandits’ commanders’ in Katsina, rescue kidnapped women, babies

The Law Command in Katsina Province says it has arrested 2 suspected commanders of the armed bandits terrorizing some parts of the Province.

A statement by the command’s spokesman, SP Gambo Isa on Tuesday, said 2 informants were also arrested patch in relation to 10 women and babies were rescued from the armed men.

The PPRO disclosed that officers of the command engaged the assailants in a gun duel prior to the arrest.

According to him, “On Sept. 20, 2021, the Command was able to arrest a 30-year-old man from Sabon Garin Faguwa community in Dutsinma Local Authorities Area (LGA), who was residing in the woods.

“The suspect is a notorious bandit commander under the command of Sani Muhidinge, who has been on the wanted listing of the police force in the province.

“And also, the command arrested some other notorious bandit, a 22-year-old man of Mai Gezoji, Tashar Mai Alewa, Danmusa LGA of the province.

“The fact of the example was that on Sept. 15, 2021, armed bandits in their numbers on pes, shooting sporadically with AK-47 rifles and other weapons, attacked Kitibawa village in Dutsinma LGA.

“The bandits killed 2 villagers during the onset, set some shops ablaze and kidnapped 18 women with their 7 babies.

“On receipt of the study, Area Commander Dutsinma, ACP Aminu Umar, led a squad of Policemen to the area, blocked the bandits and engaged them in a gun duel.

“The doggedness, unusual courage and tactical operational strategy adopted by the police force officers made the bandits flee into the woods with varying degrees of bullet wounds”.
