The Nasarawa Province Command of the Peace Corps of Nigeria has called for concerted efforts by regime and stakeholders in tackling the land’s security challenges.
Speaking to newsmen in Lafia, the province working capital, on Thur, Main Bala Joshua, Corps Commandant in the province, famous that the ring was division of the commemoration of the UN International Daytime of Peace.
According to him, peace is needed for evolution to thrive in the country and for Nigerians to showcase their potentials in all that they do.
The commandant said that the UN International Daytime of Peace was aimed at putting peace in do, through cooperation and the demand for people to unite and work together as an entity.
He explained, “The International Peace Daytime was set aside by the UN for the entire global community to observe and celebrate the civilisation of peace and the do of non-violence.”
He added that this daytime, which was foremost celebrated in 2002 as a daytime for the observance of the civilisation of peace in the world, is hither over again calling for Nigerians sober reflection.
The Corps Commandant in the province famous that the International Daytime of Peace when declared by world leaders was intended to supply the needed opportunity for the advocacy of peace, tolerance and unity within the international community.
Joshua farther explained that the platform of the UN International Daytime of Peace has if the needed opportunity for individuals, organisations and nations to create practical acts of peace on a shared date as way for man to live a happy and fulfilled life.
Joshua famous that the corps has been consistent in promoting peace in the society and enjoined Nigerians to cover themselves towards the promotion of peaceful coexistence in the country.
He explained that the activities of the Peace Corps of Nigeria are generally geared towards the promotion of peace and social enjoin, youth evolution and empowerment volunteerism, humanitarian services and environmental wellness.
He added that the Peace Corps offers a credible platform for its members to work with regime at all levels, educational institutions, youth-based organisations, civil society and community-based organisations and international evolution partners, sharing similar objectives with the corps.
The commandant pleaded with Nigerians to do absent with all forms of sentimental beliefs and cover a civilisation of peaceful co-existence and tolerance, for the country’s overall evolution.
He said the deed of clash prevention, peacebuilding, clash mediation and post-conflict transformation are the bedrock of a thriving democracy and sustainable evolution.
He added that all governments, individuals and the larger society are desirous of ensuring lasting peace around them.
