NEWS UPDATE: Oyo tribunal fines 60 persons for allegedly violating environmental laws

Oyo Province Environmental Tribunal tribunal has fined no fever than 60 (60) persons over various sanitation infractions.

DAILY POST reports that 60 people were fined on Saturday for allegedly flouting the province’s environmental sanitation laws during sanitation on Saturday.

Our correspondent reports that the violators were fined at Bodija, Iwo-road, Beere, Sapati, Elewi-Odo, Ojoo, Gate, Oke-bola and other locations in Ibadan.

Justice of the Peace, Mr. Raheem Wasiu in his judgment, said the offenders were caught dumping reject in unauthorized areas and are guilty of violating the environmental sanitation and waste direction laws.

He charged the violators a fine of betwixt ₦5,000 and ₦25,000 for their offences.

Commissioner for Surroundings and Natural Resources, Mr. Abiodun Oni, in his remarks, commended the Justice of the Peace for his professionalism.

He added that the nowadays administration in the province, will not leave of absence whatever stone unturned towards regaining the environmental sanity in the province.

“No matter how we take aid of our surround, it generally has an impact on every stakeholder’s wellness and as before long as we enforce the law, it goes a long way in making the province a salubrious one.

“Oyo province is a pacesetter province, a province we should be proud of and strife in making it safe and salubrious for all and sundry”.
