Following the intervention of the Governing Council of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, the Academic Staff Union (ASUP) of the Institution has called off its strike action which its tarted on Monday, March 14, 2022.
This was made known by the Institution’s Registrar, Busari Salawu in a press release obtained by DAILY POST in Osogbo on Friday.
A press release said the Governing Council Chairman, Dr Abiodun Saka- Layonu expressed displeasure over the strike action adding that the academic staff of the school downed tools without any prior discussion with the Council.
Frowning at such industrial action, the Governing Council Chairman urged members of ASUP and other labour unions in the institution to always embrace dialogue and consultation before embarking on such actions subsequently.
He also assured the staff that the welfare and progress of workers would be given priority by the Council.
“This Council would not deprive workers of their rights as they discharge their duties in line with the policy thrust of the state government.
“I urge you to eschew conflicts and embrace peaceful discussion with the Governing Council and Management of the institution,” he assured.
