NEWS UPDATE: Ogun: Hoodlums attack police checkpoint, injure officer, cart away rifle

Law officers at a checkpoint along Obasanjo-Itele route, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Authorities Area of Ogun Province were on Dominicus attacked by some suspected hoodlums.

The hoodlums were said to have attacked the officers patch on duty at in relation to 3:11am.

Our correspondent reports that the attacked police force squad was led by one ASP Nasiru Azeez, Inspector Olabisi Lawrence and Inspector Atari Fri.

A dependable source informed that the Inspector, on Fri sustained injury on his top dog as the hoodlums also snatched his AK-47 rifle and made absent with it.

The AK-47 rifle with Breach No. 804611, was “carted absent with 30 rounds of live ammunition,” it was learnt.

Piece the injured police force officer was taken to the Province Infirmary, Ota for handling, the police force is said to be making efforts to recover the lost rifle.

Contacted, the Province Law Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, neither denied nor confirmed the incident.

He asked our correspondent to telephone dorsum, but he did not reply several other calls pose across to his phone since Monday.
