Former Nigerian President and previous Chairman of the African Union (AU), Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, on Monday sent a salutary message to the recently chose President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, after his triumph in the overall political decision at the weekend.
Obasanjo, in an explanation endorsed by his Media Assistant, Kehinde Akinyemi, said Zambia should break the circle of past presidents being shamed or cruelly treated by succeeding ones.
Obasanjo recognized Zambians for keeping vote based system alive, even as he charged Hichilema to be unselfish in victory.
“I need to praise the recently chose President, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema for his triumph and furthermore I need to salute the cordial President for striving to keep up with the fundamentals of majority rules system by surrendering, when the outcome is evident that Hichilema won.
“I likewise compliment individuals of Zambia for keeping popular government alive. I appeal to the new President to be generous in triumph and individuals of Zambia ought to keep up with the pride and harmony which we are completely noted for in Africa.
“Zambia should break the circle of the past President being shamed, by barbarically treated by the succeeding President,” he said.
