NEWS UPDATE: NSCDC averts bloodshed as farmers, herders clash in Kwara

Operatives of the Agro Ranger System of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps( NSCDC), Kwara State Command, on Saturday, avoided what might have been a bloody clash in between farmers and herders in the Alapa neighborhood of Asa City government Area of Kwara State.

Spokesperson of the NSCDC in the state, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, divulged that the Agro Ranger System of the corps got a distress signal from the Alapa neighborhood and quickly released officers to the scene of the event.

He discussed even more that a farmer, Alaparo Tunde and his 2 boys, Saheed Tunde and Taofeek Tunde, from Alaparo town, challenged a Fulani herder, Haruna Adamu, who was captured grazing on their cassava plantation with his livestock.

The fight later on led to a hot argument with the Fulani and farmers participated in a bloody battle where cutlasses and other harmful weapons were easily utilized.

Both Fulani herder and the farmer’s 2 boys were seriously hurt and were later on required to a close-by health center where they are reacting to treatment.
