NEWS UPDATE: Nnamdi Kanu: It’s dangerous to release IPOB leader – Arewa youths president, Shettima

The leadership of the Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, AYCF, has warned against releasing Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.

National President of AYCF, Yerima Shettima, warned that to a greater extent Kanu’s would emerge to farther complicate the insecurity state of affairs in the country, whether the IPOB leader is released.

Shettima, who spoke to DAILY POST, said allowing Kanu to go unpunished would be harmful to Nigeria and the Federal Authorities.

He was reacting to President Muhammadu Buhari’s comment that he would consider the IPOB leader’s release.

Buhari had made the comment during a coming together with some Southeast leaders under the aegis of Highly Respected Igbo Greats, led by Foremost Republic parliamentarian and Government minister of Aviation, Master Mbazulike Amaechi at the Province House, Abuja.

Amaechi pleaded with the president to release Kanu, rather than opt for war machine actions.

Responding, Buhari who promised to consider their appeal, notwithstanding, famous that an unconditional release of Kanu runs opposite to the doctrine of separation of powers betwixt the executive and the judiciary.

Nevertheless nonetheless, Shettima stressed that Kanu’s release would undermine what he has done to Nigeria.

According to Shettima: “There is the opportunity of undermining the consequences of what this man (Nnamdi Kanu) did to the country and by implication, whether he is allowed to go unpunished, it would be sending the wrong message. Nobody in the history of this country has done to a greater extent impairment to this country since the civil state of war than this immature man.

“Whether at the cease of the daytime, they allow him to go unpunished after what he has done, the implication is that nobody will ever commit whatever offence of this nature and be punished because everybody will refer to him.

“And this way that the structure is automatically suspended in the country. This way that some people can just commit whatever offense at the expense of over 200 million Nigerians and acquire absent with it. Somebody can kill, pronounce killing and still acquire absent with it; and then what is the essence of condemning people to decease for killing, murder when compared to what this man (Kanu) did?

“This is just a way of undermining the laws of our ground, and indirectly they are saying the regime of the daytime can be easily influenced. This way, somebody can commit whatever offence and and then come up to Buhari or whatever other regime after this and seek forgiveness.”

The AYCF National President famous that Kanu is not remorseful of his actions, hence he may boast of beingness begged.

He added: “This man is not fifty-fifty remorseful, indirectly, it’s similar the regime is begging him to keep with what he’s doing, and he would go unpunished.

“The event is that, whether he is allowed to go unpunished, we would cease upwards having millions of Kanu rising, fifty-fifty, whether he decides not to go ahead with farther actions.

“Whether he is allowed to go, he (Kanu) will come up out boasting that he did not beg to be released. He is not remorseful and there is nil to demo he regrets his actions, and anybody can do such and acquire absent with it; we are not in Banana Republic for God’s sake.”

He maintained that the law should be allowed to take its total course of study in Kanu’s matter.

“The law must take its total course of study and I hope it’s not what I’m thinking because nobody has done the sort of impairment this man has done to this country; and upwards till date, we have not recovered from the consequences of what he has done to this country, we are watching.

“Whether we allow him to go unpunished, and then we are saying that the country should make millions of him. With him lone, seem at the impairment he has done to his part, but for us in the N, we would ensure he has no sympathizer.

“Nobody is saying he should be dealt with without committing whatever offense, but whether he is found wanting; and then he should be made to face the consequences of his actions since the matter is in tribunal,” he added.
