A devout grouping known as Prison house Fellowship Nigeria has called on the federal and province governments to upgrade the infrastructure at the various correctional facilities in the country and improve on the funding of the system in line with United Nations recommendations.
It said this would ensure that the facilities see upward with the essential task of rehabilitation and reform inmates.
The 2nd Vice Chairman of the fellowship, Main Olaide Adelami made the telephone spell speaking with journalists during the 2021 Annual Full general Coming together of the fellowship held at Odo-Uro, Iyin Ekiti.
Adelami explained that the poor province of facilities in most Nigerian prisons coupled with poor welfare had made many prisoners worst than they were before conviction.
According to him, the fellowship has continued to make out to prisoners to expose them to the word of God and also reconcile them with the offended persons whose instance brought them to prison house.
Also the Executive Managing director, Prison house Fellowship Nigeria, Mr. Benson Iwagu appealed to Nigerians to present love and extend hands of fellowship to prisoners.
In his comment, the Comptroller, Correctional Service, Ekiti Province, Mr Joseph Ojo acknowledged the efforts of the fellowship at reforming prisoners, urging them to sustain the good work
In an interview, the chairman of the occasion, Dr. Olusoji Solomon called on members of the fellowship to operate in line with the directive of God and take by illustration.
Before, the chairman, Prison house Fellowship Nigeria, Ekiti Province Chapter, Deacon Gabriel Tope Daramola said the coming together was to brainstorm on their activities and make concrete resolutions on how best to carry out the assignment of reforming prisoners.
