As Nigeria celebrates 61 years of its independence, the Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Extraordinary Conference Planning Commission and Governor of Yobe Province, Mai Mala Buni has urged Nigerians to concentrate on issues that unite the country rather than exhibiting divisive tendencies.
Buni, who gave the charge in a statement signed by his Managing director Full general Press and Media Affairs, Mamman Mohammed, also said the long history of integration amid the various ethnic, and socio-cultural groups should be a source of strength and unity in diversity for the country at 61.
He said, “although Nigeria might not have reached where it wanted to be after 61 years of independence yet, we have cause to celebrate our existence as a country.
“We may have some challenges but we still remain a United country with lots of hope to prosper and attain greatness as a united country”.
Buni, in the statement, reminded Nigerians that every country, including the developed nations, has its challenges.
“Ours should not be an exception to competition our existence as a country and provoke our growth and evolution.
“We should face the challenge and contribute to national growth and evolution for us to collectively accomplish our target of a superior Nigeria,” he said.
According to Buni, the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration is committed to building a solid foundation that will stand up the examine of time, institute good governance and service delivery.
He also stressed that APC, as the land’s ruling political party, is redefining political party politics in Nigeria through institutionalization of a strong internal democracy and a bottom-up approach to give ownership of the political party and powerfulness to the people.
He, thus, called all and sundry to play make clean, pure and wholesome politics to promote democratic growth and developmental politics that is favourable to the people of Nigeria, piece also appealing to Nigerians to back up and cooperate with the Buhari administration in its commitment to building a affluent land.
