NEWS UPDATE: Mixed reactions trails ban of motorcycles in Kaduna

Mixed reactions have continued to trail the ban of motorcycles, popularity known as Okada in Kaduna Province.

Recall that the province authorities on quarta-feira banned the utilisation of motorcycles in the province.

The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan had said the ban which took effect on September 30, 2021, was a final result of a security threat.

But residents in Kaduna and environs have decried the recent evolution saying the ban on the utilisation of motorcycles was simply to starve them to expiry, seeing that many of them are out of jobs, and hold up by riding machines.

Others who utilisation motorcycles as a way of shipping to their places of work are also worried that without motorcycles, no vehicle can penetrate the route leading to their places of work.

Since the ban on motorcycles, businessmen and women, including students regain it hard to acquire to their location of work and schools.

Dr. Samuel Obochi who works in Kaduna Province Academy (KASU), said “it has get hard for me to acquire to work because I often climb motorbike from my home to where I could acquire a motorcoach to town. At present, that the ban takes effect, I wonder how I am going to get by.”

He lamented that since his automobile was stolen a few months agone, he relies mostly on motorcycles.

Also, Mrs. Chinyere Owubike who said she sells on wholesales at Kawo-Kaduna explained that she uses motorcycles to communicate her foodstuff to interior villages where cars and lorries cannot go into.

She said since the ban took effect, she has no alternative than to shut some of her shops in some neighbouring villages.

” It is a large challenge for me at present, because most places I go, I ever utilisation a bike. At present, it’s hard for me at present.

Also, a federal civil retainer, Mr. Linus Obudu who works in Kawo-secretariat said with the ban, he has to relocate to some other province because, he will regain it hard to see upward, in his location of work without a motorbike.
