NEWS UPDATE: LG election: Police vow to be neutral, deal with any officer conniving with politician

The Kaduna Province Commissioner of Law, Mudashiru Abdullahi, on Thur vowed that the strength under his stewardship will not take side with whatsoever political political party or candidate in the local authorities election on Saturday, 25 September, 2021.

Recall that the Kaduna Province Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) had postponed local authorities elections in 4 local authorities areas (Chikun, Zagon Kataf, Kajuru, Kauru) of the province from September 4 to September 25, 2021 for security reasons.

Abdullahi stated that the command will keep to display a high level of professionalism and neutrality just as it has shown during the September 4th, 2021 elections conducted in 19 LGAs across the province.

Addressing members of Concerned Citizens from Zangon-Kataf LGA who visited him at the Law Headquarters in Kaduna on Thur ahead of the election, he said it is important to abide by the rules and laws of the country.

He vowed to deal with anyone or grouping of individuals who go against the law of the ground.

The grouping were in the command headquarters to discuss vital issues bothering the LG and to guarantee the Law of community back up to ensure a hitch-free election.

The commissioner enjoined the grouping to study whatsoever constabulary officer who is involved in whatsoever human activity tantamount to overturning the will of the people or collaborating with whatsoever politician to discredit the electoral physical process.

He also assured the grouping that he will not take it lightly with whatsoever constabulary officer that undermined the credibility of his agency.

Abdullahi also called on the people to give the constabulary the essential back up to carry out their duty of protecting lives and properties and assured the grouping of a sustainable police-community partnership to strengthen constabulary presence in the local authorities.

Leader of the grouping, Mr. Luka Binniyat, said, they have confidence in the constabulary and they believe they will be neutral during the election and that their see was aimed at reminding the constabulary of the expectations of the people on them and to farther strengthen the cooperation betwixt them and the people.
