The ward congress exercise of the Kwara Province Peoples Democratic Political party, PDP, held on Saturday across the 193 wards of the province recorded a high turnout of political party members.
The exercise, which was conducted on consensus system, was also peaceful across the 193 electoral wards in the province.
Executives of the political party at the ward level were elected during the exercise, DAILY POST reports.
Speaking with DAILY POST on phone, the province chairman of the political party, Engr. Kola Shittu, described the exercise as peaceful and heartwarming.
He said disagreements were resolved before the exercise, hence the rancour release and resounding success recorded throughout the province.
Engr. Shittu, said all issues that could mar the success and peaceful conduct of the ward congresses exercise, were resolved amicably within the political party before the Saturday case.
Also, the spokesman of the political party in the province, Tunde Ashaolu, in a statement in Ilorin, on Saturday, commended political party members for the successful conduct of the exercise.
He said “As a political party that respects due physical process and committed to internal democracy,” we welcome the choices made by delegates during the ward congresses.
“It is division of the several efforts we are taking as a political party to strengthen our back up base of operations at the grassroots and also build a formidable political party that is ready to take over powerfulness from the clueless All Progressives Congress administration,” he added.
The political party expressed appreciation to the leaders, elders and relevant stakeholders within the political party, particularly, the national leader, Dr Bukola Saraki, for their contributions towards the successful conduct of the ward congresses.
