Chairman of the Southward East Governors Forum and Ebonyi Province Governor, David Umahi on Tuesday said that the structure, sit-at-home say declared by the leadership of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, have been hijacked by criminals.
Umahi made this known patch addressing the Southward East Council of Traditional Rulers during a coming together that took location at the Christian Ecumenical Centre Abakaliki, Ebonyi Province working capital.
The governor blamed the IPOB leadership for allowing cultists and other hoodlums to hijack their sit-at-home say and resulted in killings of harmless citizens of the part.
According to him: “Traditional institution is real important and it’s the bedrock of Ndigbo, that’s why I’m overwhelmed with the unity and the love, oneness existing amongst the traditional rulers of Southeast.”
He as blamed the insecurity in the Southeast part on the sit-at-home declared by IPOB.
He said, “We all know that IPOB has been hijacked by cultists and criminals in the society.
“And that is why it is real important that those who said they are fighting for the emancipation, for the liberty of the Igbo dry land to take a deeper appear at our state of affairs nowadays. Why are we still having killings in Southeast, is it still for the same agenda? Are there other things we do not know?
“I know that leaders do not come up upwardly to speak in Southeast because of fearfulness of selective killings, but we know all these children, we know their fathers but our leaders in the church building, our cultural leaders, your majesties can regain a way to start to utter to our people.
“My advice is that we should do to a greater extent as leaders of Southeast, to know whether those who said they are fighting for us are really fighting for us.
“You might have been hearing me talking in relation to VAT, our place is that, Southeast you are seeing was the bedrock of the evolution of this country. We must think the era of palm oil. We must think the efforts of Southeast people in the evolution of every sector of the economic system in the whole Nigeria.
“Every province in the Southeast must bring together me to say, appear, whether it is the right of province or federal regime, permit us not upset the system, the chain is as strong as the weakest link,” he stated.
Before in a comment, the Obi of Onitsha, HRH Alfred Achebe, who spoke on behalf of the traditional rulers in southeast, said there is demand for all the leaders of the southward east to work together for the evolution of the part.
