Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers Province has taken a swipe at the National Assembly for not doing plenty oversight on the executive arm of authorities.
Governor Wike, who was speaking during an interdenominational church building thanksgiving in commemoration of the 61st anniversary of Nigeria in Port Harcourt on Lord’s Day, berated the National Assembly for accepting whatever the executive brings without proper scrutiny.
He said, “a legislature that cannot think, anything they convey is right. A legislature that cannot regard that Nigerian has gotten to the age for conducting a unloose and fair election.
“A legislature that will shut their eyes, whatsoever time they want to borrow they borrow. A legislature that will not inquire; this money we are going to borrow, where is it? Where are you applying it?
“So indeed what are we celebrating?”
The Governor also lamented over the “intimation” of judges in Nigeria, claiming that judges have abandoned their duties because of fright.
He also said there is no other time that Nigeria needs God other than at present considering the “segmentation enmity and hatred” in the country nowadays.
