NEWS UPDATE: I was slated for returning N100,000 forgotten by passenger – Kaduna tricyclist

A tricycle administrator in Kaduna, Ayuba Yusuf, who returned N100,000 forgotten by a traveler, said on Monday that the response of certain individuals from general society, took him by surprise.

Yusuf, a Diploma holder in Public Administration, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that albeit not many individuals recognized him, much more reproved him for being ‘silly’ for returning such sum in this ‘season of hardship’.

Narrating how it occurred, the tricycle administrator said on nineteenth October, a woman with youngsters hailed him at precisely 6.45 pm, scarcely 15 minutes to when the tricyclist should be off the street for the day.

“I told her it was late yet she begged me to help her, as she had some little kids, and was most likely getting back from a trip.

“Out of pity, I obliged, and at incredible danger, after which she paid her charge and I left briskly to beat the 7 pm shutting time fixed by the state government.

“But after arriving at home, I saw a pack forgotten in my tricycle, clearly having a place with the lady, and after opening same, saw some attire materials, beauty care products, and cash, which I chose not to contact,” he narrated.

Yusuf, matured 44, and father of four kids, said he drew the consideration of his better half and the two of them depended on paying attention to the radio to hear if the proprietor would support an announcement.

“My spouse later heard a declaration on the missing sack through Liberty Radio, Kaduna, and drew my consideration, after which I returned the things, including the money.

“The lady was thrilled to the point that she gave me N10,000 out of the cash, which I dismissed, however she demanded that I ought to acknowledge same.

“Some individuals at the station mediated by demanding that I acknowledge the gift, which I did hesitantly by gathering just N4,000, and giving some others at the scene, N6,000 to share,” he said.

Yusuf, who took to the business tricycle transportation business for absence of a middle class work upon graduation, clarified that the tricycle he was riding had a place with another person and that his week after week gets back to the proprietor, was N15,000.

He said his biggest frustration was that while certain individuals commended his feeling of genuineness, significantly more rebuked him for, as would be natural for them, being “sufficiently stupid to return such measure of cash in this hard times”.
