NEWS UPDATE: Gunmen kidnap Permanent Secretary, son in Niger

Unknown gunmen on Fri kidnapped Dr Ibrahim Garba, Permanent Secretarial assistant, Niger Province Ministry building of Transportation and his son.

Commissioner of Constabulary in the province, Mr Monday Kuryas, made this known in an interview with newsmen in Minna on Saturday, NAN reports.

He said the begetter and son were kidnapped from their home in Zungeru in Wushishi Local Authorities Area after a nuptials ceremony had been held in Garba’s house.

The police force commissioner said investigations had begun into the abduction and assured that the perpetrators would be tracked downward.

“We have since deployed armed security personnel to the area to rescue the victims,’’ he said.

Kuryas appealed to residents to assist the command with whatsoever useful information to assist in the arrest and prosecution of criminal elements.

“All we require from members of the public is to assist us with credible information on the motion of doubtful characters in their midst for essential activity,’’ the police force commissioner said.
