A socio-political grouping, the Northern Conscience for 2023, NCfor2023, said on quarta-feira that the arrest and parade of some youths believed to be Northerners by the S Westward Security Network code-named Amotekun, is unsafe for the unity of Nigeria.
The security outfit had arrested 18 youths accused of hiding under bags of beans in a trailer, who were all paraded on quarta-feira.
But the grouping, with the aim of amplifying the part’s involvement ahead of the 2023 full general elections, said at a press briefing in Abuja that the actions of Amotekun and allegations of wandering levelled against the suspects were “laughable.”
The National President of the grouping, Garus Gololo, who spoke to newsmen, accused the Ondo Province Governor, Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu of championing “an anti-Due north crusade aimed at intimidating people from the Due north.”
Gololo queried Akeredolu’s stance, asking, “Was he similar this as the National President of the Nigeria Bar Organization; was he the NBA leader for Western lawyers only or for the entire country?
“It is fifty-fifty to a greater extent disturbing when one considers that he claims to be a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) who should have sound knowledge of the law and the structure; and the fact that Ametokun is not recognized by the Structure as a law enforcement agency with powers to parade suspects,” he added.
The grouping’s leader, who maintained that the Due north remains committed to the unity of Nigeria and the indivisibility of the country, warned of grave consequences whether the part retaliates the handling meted to it in recent times, by other parts of the country.
This is as he added that “leaders across Nigeria must come up together to promote the liberty of motion of citizens as enshrined in the 1999 Structure”, adding that “every paw must be on deck to check the country’s side into anarchy as criminalities erupt in various places.”
“Intimidation and ethnic profiling of northerners in other parts of the country must be stopped straightaway. The country cannot afford to endure the carnage and lawlessness spreading within its borders similar wildfire,” Gololo farther cautioned.
