Governor of Cross River Province, Professor Benedict Ayade and his Deputy, Professor Ivara Esu, snubbed the federal regime squad led by Manager Full general of National Emergency Direction Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Ahmed.
Neither the governor nor his deputy bothered to get the squad nor honoured invitation to attend the flag- off of the distribution of agricultural inputs to farmers that were assessed to have suffered damages and losses during lastly yr’s flood catastrophe.
The federal regime squad also included representative of the government minister of humanitarian affairs, catastrophe direction and social evolution, representative of secretarial assistant to the federal regime of Nigeria and others.
Despite series of notifications through official channels, the squad arrived Margaret Ekpo international airport Calabar quarta-feira 29 September 2021 but there were only junior officers from the Province Emergency Direction Agency (SEMA) to welcome the high-powered federal regime officials.
According to some officials of the federal regime squad who pleaded not to be named, “the Cross River Province regime did not fifty-fifty attention to send vehicles to communicate us.”
They also said that whether officials from their zonal business office were not on ground ahead of their arrival in Calabar with their vehicles they would have been thoroughly embarrassed.
According to some other female official, “We were told that the governor would not be disposed to get us until after the flag off of the distribution of the Agricultural inputs we came to distribute to farmers in the province.
“This never held as he neither called to tell them nor apologize.
“The preceding daytime, we were to have audience with the deputy governor upon arrival. We were abandoned in his mini Conference corridor as we waited for him for to a greater extent than an hr. Eventually, he did not come up to get us.
“We are real disappointed”, she told a journalist, asking whether the governor thought he was still in PDP that he would snub an APC federal regime squad in his province.
“Whether we knew we would have this type of snubbish handling we would have looked at some other province which every bit suffered flood catastrophe lastly yr and and so conduct the flag off ceremony there”.
Speaking, Okon Owuna said he came to the case in his official capacity as commissioner for Agriculture, and not to stand for the governor. He notwithstanding commended NEMA, assuring that the province regime was happy for the agric inputs given to farmers in the province.
The province manager full general of SEMA, Princewill Ayim graced the case and also commended the NEMA squad for selecting the province for distribution of the agrochemicals to farmers who suffered catastrophe during lastly yr’s flood.
An official shut to the governor said since the government minister could not come up in individual it was not real proper for the governor to attend in individual, which reason he sent a representative, too.
