Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo Province has urged the aggrieved members of the Peoples Democratic Political party (PDP) to give room for resolution of the crisis within the political party.
Makinde made this disclosure spell on Saturday.
Our correspondent recalls that some aggrieved members of the political party had lastly week passed a vote of no confidence on Makinde.
The aggrieved members accused the Governor of hijacking the political party.
The aggrieved members amidst whom were a former House of Representatives leader, Mulikat Adeola-Akande, former Deputy Governor, Azeem Gbolarumi and other stalwarts of the political party vowed to work against the governor in the 2023 election.
Makinde has notwithstanding enjoined the aggrieved members to give room for resolution of the clash within the political party.
He spoke during the ward congress of the political party in Ibadan.
Makinde said, “I view that
the people are excited. They want to be participants in the democratic physical process to choose their leaders to run the affairs of the political party at the ward level. So, for me, it is democracy in activeness.
“And also with the fact that we have been in regime slightly 2 years at present, the people are still excited in relation to their political party. It is something that calls for celebration for us.
“Good, the exercise nowadays went peacefully. I wait other congresses to be peaceful as good. Everywhere around the province, the people are excited because they are getting dividends of democracy. So, I believe the excitement is all over the province.
“For the PDP members in Oyo Province, I want to enquire them to rest unified because we can do fairly a lot in unity.
“And for some who are angry or aggrieved, permit them take their issues to the tabular array, we will address them. Politics is in relation to clash and resolution of clash within interaction of people.”
