NEWS UPDATE: Five feared dead, nine rescued in Taraba boat mishap

A boat disaster has killed a minister and four different people in Taraba State.

Confirming the mishap, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abdullahi Usman, revealed to DAILY POST that the boat was passing on fourteen travelers when it capsized.

The travelers, who as per him loaded up the boat from Mareniwo, in Ardo-Kola neighborhood government space of the State, were venturing out to a town in Karim-Lamido nearby government when the occurrence occurred.

As of the hour of documenting this report, marines, as indicated by him, have been dispatched to the stream to look for the remaining parts of the victims.

He said “we discovered that out of the fourteen travelers ready, nine were safeguarded and the whereabouts of the excess five people are obscure yet we have dispatched our marines there.”

Though none of the remaining parts have been recuperated, he was hopeful that the endeavors of the marines will yield results.

The minister, whose name was given as Rev. Shedrack Bako, was supposed to be returning back to his place of essential assignment.

When reached, the state administrator, Christian Association of Nigeria ( CAN), Isaiah J. Magaji, affirmed the incident.
