The federal and Anambra Province governments have promised to fix the failed portion of the Onitsha-Owerri limited route in Onitsha Anambra Province.
The federal highway, just in forepart of the metallurgical institute had days dorsum been totally cutting off by erosion, causing hardship for travellers using the route.
The Federal Comptroller of Works, Anambra Province, Mr Ajani Adeyemo who inspected the route on quarta-feira in the company of the province commissioner for Works, Mr Marcel Ifejiofor said the federal and province governments would fix the route within 3 days.
Ajani said: “The federal regime has deployed the services of Julius Berger Interpretation Company to position the route dorsum to utilization.
“They (Julius Berger) will fix the route within 3 days. The failure of this route is an unlucky incident, and this is caused by blockage of natural flood channel with buildings and blocked drainage in the area which led to washing off of the earth underneath.”
The Anambra Province Commissioner for Works, Marcel Ifejiofor spell describing the incident as rattling unlucky, regretted the hardship the state of affairs has caused Anambra people.
He thanked the federal regime for responding promptly as the state of affairs demanded.
Ifejiofor cautioned those who are in the habit of dumping debris within the drainages to desist from doing so, saying the repercussions are devastating.
