Former Arsenal captain, William Gallas, has questioned the social club’s choice to pass £50million on their summertime signing, Ben White.
Gallas insisted that White, who joined Arsenal from Brighton in the summertime transfer window, has not proved anything yet at Emirates.
The former Chelsea defender also compared White, who endured a torrid start to his Arsenal career, struggling to handgrip the physical threat of Ivan Toney during an opening daytime defeat at Brentford, to Manchester United’s Raphael Varane.
“It’s hard for me to understand why Arsenal spent £50m on one player who is yet to prove himself at the top level and at the same time Manchester United can pass around £40m on Varane who won the World Loving cup and has 4 Champions League titles,” Gallas told GentingBet ahead of Arsenal’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur on Sun.
“He’s won the Spanish league. You have to explicate to me how it’s possible. Perhaps it’s partly because Ben White is English.
“Hear, Varane is a different grade player compared to Ben White. Ben White is still immature. As I said, He hasn’t proved anything yet. How can you place a £50m terms on him, you know? I honor him.
“I don’t know him. I honor him and I hope he will be a great player, but he hasn’t proved anything yet. You can’t compare Ben White and Varane, I’m sorry. It’s not possible.”
