NEWS UPDATE: Deploy security to Anambra to curb killings – Reps tells NSA

The House of Representatives has urged the National Security Adviser (NSA) and other security agencies to deploy all essential machineries to Anambra Province in tell to contain the menace of insecurity in the Province.

This followed the adoption of a motility of urgent public importance by Rep Chris Azugbogu (PDP-Anambra) on the story of the House on Tuesday in Abuja.

In his motility, he famous with grave concern the security breaches that are taking location within Anambra that hitherto was a peaceful province, at present turning into a centre of attacks by unknown gunmen.

He farther famous that these killings were orchestrated by mischief makers, bent on causing tension and panic in the province ahead of the Nov. 6 governorship election in the province.

Azugbogu alleged that no single daytime passes without a reported instance of robbery, abduction and outright killings, adding that the perpetrators had no human conscience in them.

According to him, on Tuesday, Sept. 28, Dr Chike Akunyili, the spouse of the belatedly former Manager-Full general of NAFDAC, Prof Dora Akunyili and 8 others, were slaughtered at Nkpor, Onitsha in Anambra.

“The next daytime, the law station in Orumba northward was attacked and people were killed,” he said.

He stated that on Sept. 30, his vehicle was attacked along Nnewi Nnobi route leading to the final decease of one of his drivers.

He added that the business office of the Department of Province Security was also burnt downwards on Oct. 3, people were also killed and houses burnt.

Azugbogu observed that there was a demand to work with security agencies to curtail such an deed towards making the province safe for law-abiding citizens to go in relation to their lawful businesses.

He stated that unless drastic measures were taken to halt and combat those elements terrorising the states, events in Anambra would turn into a major crisis in the entire Due south East and the land.

The House, so, mandated the commission on National security and intelligence and law affairs to ensure that normalcy is restored within the province and study to the House within 3 weeks.

The House also observed a min of quiet for the belatedly driver and other people killed.
