An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State on Monday purchased that a 28-year-old specialist, Pope Ogala, be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre for supposedly raping a 14-year-old woman.
The cops charged Ogala, who lives in Ishawo Roadway, Ikorodu, Lagos, with rape.
The Magistrate, M.O. Tanimola, provided the order following a movement by the District attorney, ASP Victor Eruada, that the matter is described the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal suggestions.
Tanimola, who did not take the plea of the accused, likewise directed the district attorney to replicate the case file and send it to the DPP for suggestions.
The magistrate adjourned the case up until February 12 for more reference.
The district attorney had earlier informed the court that Ogala devoted the offense at some point in 2015 and Nov. 20, 2021, in his home.
Eruada stated the accused, who is brother-in-law to the victim, raped her.
The offense breaches Area 260 of the Lawbreaker Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Firm of Nigeria reports that the area recommends life jail time for rape. (NAN)
