Villarreal director, Unai Emery, has made it clear to Chelsea that they will be fighing for the UEFA Super Cup trophy.
Both groups face each other on Wednesday in Belfast.
Emery’s men guaranteed their first historically speaking significant prize in the wake of beating Manchester United in the Europa League last May.
Now they face Champions League victors Chelsea, who are overseen by Thomas Tuchel, with the shot at adding another.
Emery named the Blues the “best on the planet”, yet stayed bullish about his group’s chances.
“If they are the heroes of the Champions League then they are more grounded than the Chelsea of 2019.
“It’s actual that the Europa League has grown a great deal. Its a genuine model. In two years they have made the jump.
“For me likewise, the present circumstance is the challenge.
“We will play for a title and we will play against the best group on the planet. We are amped up for the challenge.
“We are exceptionally glad for Villarreal and to address La Liga here,” Emery said in his pre-match press conference.
