Manchester United legend, Rio Ferdinand, has said Paris Saint-Germain manager, Mauricio Pochettino, was “disrespectful” for giving Lionel Messi the role of lying behind the defensive wall at free-kicks.
Messi finally got on the scoresheet for his new order during a 2-0 win over Manchester City on Tuesday dark.
But shortly after, the Argentine superstar was seen lying behind the wall during a City loose kicking.
Ferdinand insisted Messi should not be carrying out that duty, and that whether he was in the PSG squad, he would offering to do it instead.
“The instant Pochettino asked him to do this at the preparation ground, someone should have gone in and said, ‘No, no, no, Lionel Messi doesn’t do that.’
“You can’t do it, it’s disrespectful, I wouldn’t have it.
“Whether I was in that squad, I would be similar, ‘No, no, no, I’d lay downward for you.’ He doesn’t acquire his kit dingy, that’s not what Messi does,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport.
