Senator Samuel Anyanwu has pleaded with the the Federal and the Province governments to capture journalists in their futurity budgets.
Anyanwu, who represented the Imo East Senatorial District, said the role they play towards social evolution was to a greater extent than what most public business office holders do.
He said, “the success story of this country cannot be told without members of the quaternary estate of the realm. Whether their role is to inform, educate and entertain the public, our people should have it that way and cut down the rate of animosity against journalists.”
The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Political party (PDP) in Imo Province, made this appeal weekend in Owerri during the 13th yr anniversary of Nigeria Newsguide Paper in Owerri, the working capital of Imo Province.
He said, “We should honour them for working under the Sun and in the rainfall to source information for public consumption, yet, regime doesn’t aid to create their welfare a precedence. The Federal and the Province governments should without farther delay assist them.”
Anyanwu, who was represented by his Media Adviser, Ikenna Onuoha, commended the Publisher of the paper, Mr. Chidi Emeagi for existence resolute to sustain the business despite the current economical crunch.
