NEWS UPDATE: BREAKING: Bandits invade Emir of Kagara’s Palace in Niger, residents flee

Gunmen on Tuesday allegedly invaded the palace of Emir of Rafi Local Authorities Area of Niger Province.

The gunmen, it was gathered, stormed the palace around 6pm.

DAILY POST gathered that the gunmen arrived on in relation to 20 motorcycles, carrying 3 persons each, and shooting sporadically to scare residents of the area.

DAILY POST learnt that a lot of traders in the Kagara marketplace abandoned thier goods and scampered for security on hearing the sporadic gunshots.

A source said residents of the area have fled to the bush for security to avoid either beingness kidnapped or killed by the armed gunmen.

“The armed men arrived on 20 motorcycles through the Madaka route from where the Kagara boys were kidnapped some months dorsum, this eve. They attacked the Emir’s Palace and the Kagara marketplace. People were running helter skelter for security. We cried to the security agencies and they arrived to aid us. Many have left their homes and taken refuge in the bush.

“The state of affairs is poor at present because of the network that has been jammed. We don’t know what is happening,” the source stated.

Our Correspondent also gathered that during the onrush, the Emir of Kagara Alh Ahmed Garba Gunna Attahiru II was not in the palace as he had been absent from the town for a piece.

Efforts to acquire the reaction of the Chairman of Rafi LGA, Alh Ismaila Danmodibo, failed as he could not be reached.

When contacted, the province Law Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Wasiu Abiodun, promised to acquire dorsum to our reporter on the matter.
