The Nigerian Army has affirmed the demolition of Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) controlled Eastern Security Network (ESN) contenders in Anambra.
Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu declared the end in an assertion on Saturday.
Troops of 82 Division leading Exercise GOLDEN DAWN killed ESN agents in a firearm fight Friday evening at Nnobi Junction in Idemili South Local Government.
Nwachukwu said the activity followed the assault on staff of safety offices conveyed at Ekwulobia Roundabout in Aguata Local Government Area.
Nwachukwu reviewed that after the assault, troops quickly prepared to the scene and set out on the quest for the lawbreakers along Nnewi – Nnobi road.
The fighters connected with the escaping shooters, drawn in them and killed four. Various weapons and things were recovered.
These incorporate two AK-47 Rifles, one GALIL Ace 5.56 x 45 Iwi Gun, one Avofeng Handheld radio and one Black Highlander jeep.
Similarly, troops thwarted one more assault by IPOB ESN at Umunze designated spot, in Orumba South Local Government Area.
The troops overpowered the secessionists in the shootout that followed, driving them to take to their heels.
The posse deserted one Pump Action firearm with nine cartridges, one dull blue Ford vehicle and four motorcycles.
The Nigerian Army censured the endeavor by IPOB ESN to ingrain dread “and harm approaching Anambra governorship election”.
“Members of people in general are consoled that the Nigerian Army, sister administrations and other security offices won’t yield in defying all crooks expectations against the populace and public interest”, Nwachukwu added.
