Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Counsel to pro-Biafra agitator, Nnamdi Kanu, has condemned the arrest of Nollywood veteran, Chiwetalu Agu by the Department of Province Services, DSS.
Ejiofor said the arrest of Agu by the secret constabulary was an indication of how the Nigerian security agents are desecrating the Southeast.
The Nigerian Regular army had arrested the Nollywood player for donning a Biafra regalia in Onitsha Anambra Province.
Agu was arrested on Thur in Upper Iweka Bridge by soldiers patch carrying out a charity exercise.
He was, nevertheless nonetheless, released by the Nigerian Regular army, and shortly afterwards, re-arrested by DSS operatives on Fri.
Reacting to the evolution, Ejiofor called for the instant and unconditional release of the 65-years-old player.
He charged the armed services to apologise to Agu for violating his fundamental human rights.
In a statement he issued on Saturday, Ejiofor said: “I was shocked to take in a respected elderberry and widely celebrated Nollywood Ingenious Player, who has creditably distinguished himself in the industry existence dehumanized and treated similar a common criminal. Whether I may enquire, what offence has Agu committed to warrant existence subjected to such humiliation, torture, inhumane handling and degradation by those who knows little or nil in relation to our laws?
“Can these untamed men, recklessly abusing their offices tell us why they are desecrating our elders and by extension the sacred terra firma of our ancestors?
“Unfortunately, disturbing information reaching me few hours agone is that Master Chiwetalu Agu has been re-arrested by the DSS. We hereby demand for the instant and unconditional release of Master Chiwetalu Agu, from the custody of the DSS,” he added.
