The Leadership of the Bayelsa Province Law Command has ordered a probe into the precipitous decease of a 27-year-old male person, who died in police force custody.
The province’s Commissioner of Law, CP Echeng E. Echeng, ordered for discreet investigation and autopsy to determine the cause of the decease of the deceased, Goodluck Oviekeme.
The CP gave the enjoin in a statement, made available to DAILY POST on Saturday, in Yenagoa, through the province’s Law Public Relations Officer, SP Asinim Butswat.
The statement read “The deceased suspect was arrested in connector with the armed robbery incident that occurred on 21 September 2021, at Biogbolo, Yenagoa, when hoodlums attacked a Law Patrol squad, fatally injured Inspector Ugbotor Lord’s Day and carted absent his rifle”
Preliminary investigation reveals that Goodluck Oviekeme was the mastermind of the onset on the patrol squad. He was arrested on 22 September 2021 at in relation to 0300 hours, patch in Law custody the suspect was observed to be running a high temperature and was taken to the infirmary where he eventually died.
The CP condoled the household of the deceased and assured the full general public that investigations have commenced and that the outcome will be made public.
