NEWS UPDATE: Bauchi: 76 persons died from 300 road crashes in eight months – FRSC

The Federal Route Security Corps (FRSC), Gombe Province Command, said 76 persons died in 300 route crashes in the province from Jan to August, this twelvemonth.

Mr Ishzku Ibrahim, the Province Sector Commander disclosed this patch briefing newsmen in Lafiyawo Community in Akko Local Authorities Area of the province as division of activities lined upward by the command to score the graduation of the ’ember months’ drive.

The Sector Commander famous that within the period under review, 1,333 persons were involved in various accidents, 798 others sustained various degrees of injuries, patch 459 were unharmed.

He observed that there was an increment in the number of crashes from Jan to August, compared with the 2020 statistics of crashes in the province.

He added that from Jan to August 2020, 46 persons were killed in 191 crashes, stressing that 545 others sustained various degrees of injuries, patch 438 were unharmed.

The Sector Commander observed that relevant stakeholders in the transportation sector would be engaged to farther enlighten the people on the demand for safe driving.

He famous that ember months generally tape a high volume of traffic next heavy movements of people, preparatory to the Yuletide.

He explained, “Because of this, we will stair upward our rescue operations and surveillance, particularly at nighttime, to minimise the fatalities generally recorded during nighttime journeys.”

He and so advised motorists and passengers to avoid nighttime journeys, overspeeding and other route unfriendly acts that could threaten their lives on the route by causing route accidents.
