NEWS UPDATE: Bandits defy security measures, kill many, loot, raze houses in Katsina

Yasore community in Batsari Local Council of Katsina Province was overran by bandits on Tuesday in an surgical process that lasted for several hours.

The notorious gunmen who defiled the ongoing security measures in the Province, came riding on motorcycles as usual.

Gambo Isah confirmed that no fewer than 11 persons were killed, spell 10 others got injured, though sources from the community gave the tally of those killed to be 16, amid several others that were injured.

According to SP. Gambo, the onrush was a reprisal by herdsmen to avenge the expiry of their members who were of late allegedly killed by volunteer vigilantes, locally known as ‘Yan Sakai.’

“Yes, the onrush on the community is true and unfortunately 11 people lost their lives and 10 others sustained various level of injuries. The onrush was a reprisal by herdsmen whose members were killed by Yan Sakai of late.

“Yan Sakai remains banned, and anyone caught parading himself as one would be treated similar a bandit,” SP. Gambo warned.

Aside those killed and injured in the onrush, the hoodlums also caused several havoc on the community as they set several houses on flaming, looted and carted absent absent cash, foodstuffs, phones, article of clothing items and rustled several cattles before leaving the community.

Recall that the Human Rights Writers Organization of Nigeria, HURIWA, of late drew the attending of the Federal Regime to the fact that
the hoodlums despite the shutdown of communication channels in the banditry prone areas, are still able to regain ways to proceed with their heinous criminal offense.
