NEWS UPDATE: Attacks: Anambra CP urges parties to submit schedule of rallies

The Commissioner of constabulary in Anambra Province, CP Tony Olofu has ordered political parties participating in the forthcoming Anambra governorship election to submit the schedule of their rallies to the command.

Olofu made the say on the backdrop of the recent attacks on supporters of some political parties in the Province, which led to loss of 4 lives.

In a press release by the Province’s Constabulary Command’s spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Commissioner said the schedule would aid constabulary ensure security in all rally venues.

He said: “The CP reiterated his before asking for political parties to forward schedules of their political activities to the command as they commence political campaigns within the province.

“The CP alluded to the fact that campaigns are a critical section of the electioneering physical process. This hence will enable the constabulary high command provide adequate security for the security of participants at such events.”

He added that this would aid the command deploy other tactical and operational units, as good as traffic command policemen to strategic points to ensure that the existing public security and say in the province is sustained.
