NEWS UPDATE: Army foils kidnap of Catholic Bishop in Imo

Nigerian troops, on Sunday, thwarted an endeavor to seize the Catholic Bishop of Orlu Diocese, Most Reverend Augustine Ukwuoma.

DAILY POST reports that the episode happened at the Orlu Diocesan Catholic Secretariat, BSC Road, Orlu Imo State.

The Catholic Bishop was saved after troops reacted to a misery call at around 2:30am on Sunday 31 October 2021.

In an assertion endorsed by Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director, Army Public Relations, shipped off DAILY POST, he said that troops will keep on preventing independence from getting activity to criminals.

The articulation read:

“Troops leading Exercise GOLDEN DAWN Sector 3 have thwarted an endeavored abduct and burglary of Most Reverend Augustine Ukwuoma at the Orlu Diocesan Catholic Secretariat, BSC Road, Orlu Imo State.

“The troops in light of a trouble call at around 2:30am on Sunday 31 October 2021, quickly moved to the scene compelling the attackers to flee in this manner forsaking their central goal. The Bishop, his Secretary and Assistant Secretary are protected and unhurt.

“Troops will keep on preventing independence from getting activity to individuals from the prohibited Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network (IPOB/ESN) and other groups of thugs working inside the area particularly as the races in Anambra State moves ever closer the yuletide season.

“Members of general society are instructed to report dubious development regarding crooks just as refuges of the banned IPOB/ESN to law implementation organizations as the gathering is simply out to scare, take and hijack well behaved residents for ransom.”
