Suspected cultists have killed 3 persons in Awka, Anambra Province raising tension amid residents.
The recent violence is despite the launch of Surgical procedure Golden Dawn, a military machine surgical procedure in the Due south East created to check violence in the province.
DAILY POST gathered that 2 persons were gunned downward opposite First of all Marketplace, Ifite, spell one individual was killed behind the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu Teaching Infirmary, Amaku, both in Awka Due south Local Authorities Area.
An eyewitness who spoke with our correspondent said both incidents happened betwixt 4:15 – 4:30pm on Tuesday.
The source said, “These boys have started over again. It is because the policemen are nowhere to be seen as a resultant of the “unknown gunmen”.
Panic has at present enveloped residents of Awka, who had not witnessed such killings in recent times.
When contacted, the Province Law Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Ikenga Tochukwu, said he had not been briefed on the issue.
He said, “As presently as the command receives the sign it would be made public.”
But a senior Law officer in the Province, who did not want to be quoted, confirmed the incidents. He said it was not a instance of unknown gunmen, but a instance of cult clashes involving competition groups.
