NEWS UPDATE: Alleged N20bn Bailout Fund: Kogi Assembly threatens Sterling Bank MD

Kogi Province House of Assembly has threatened to issue a warrant of arrest against the Managing Managing director of Sterling Bank Plc, Abubakar Suleiman should he neglect to seem before the house on Tuesday next week.

The House had invited the Managing Managing director 2 weeks agone to clarify the N20bn Bailout Fund the Bank claimed it will send dorsum to the Central Bank of Nigeria but he failed to honour the invitation.

At plenary on Tuesday, the Regional Manager of Sterling Bank, Enejo Ibrahim and Counsel to the Bank, Olukayode Enitan, SAN were at the Province Assembly but the Speaker, Prince Matthew Kolawole insisted they would not be allowed to speak until they make a letter of the alphabet from the Managing Managing director of the bank, authorizing them to stand for him.

The Speaker said the House is giving the Bank Principal Executive Officer one week to seem before it as whatsoever endeavor to dishonour the invitation will create the House usage every legal agency to create him appear.

He pointed out that the claim that the Province Regime fixed the Bailout Fund in a domicile account with the bank has brought embarrassment to the Regime and people of Kogi Province.

According to him, investigations by the House Commission on Public Accounts revealed that the allegations were baseless and untrue, adding that the Assembly will acquire to the root of the matter.
