The Actors Guild of Nigeria has reacted to the arrest of veteran thespian, Chiwetalu Agu.
The thespian was arrested by Nigerian Ground forces troops for wearing Biafra habiliment.
He was reportedly sharing food to the less privileged persons wearing a Biafran regalia when authorities forces stopped him at upper Iweka route, Onitsha.
Agu was approached by 2 soldiers who wrestled him to the ground and dragged him absent.
Speaking on the incident, Brig. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, the Ground forces Public Relations said the veteran thespian was apprehended for inciting members of the public and soliciting for back up for the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Reacting, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, in an interview with newsmen, condemned the fact that Agu was seen wearing a Biafra regalia.
He famous that considering high rate of insecurity in the country and knowing how hot the province is currently, Agu should have avoided beingness seen in such habiliment.
He, nevertheless nonetheless, said that the Guild is doing everything possible to ensure Chiwetalu Agu is released.
“I don’t know why he place on Biafra regalia. The Province is hot and he knows this.
“We are in speak with the armed services officials to ensure he his released. We will do our best.
“I heard they have taken him to 82 Partition of the Nigeria War machine base of operations,” he said.
