Ondo Province Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, has warned that southerners will not back up whatever political political party that puts forward a northern candidate for the presidency in 2023.
Akeredolu stated this during an interview on Channels Television on Fri.
The governor insisted that the presidency must be zoned to the Southward, for the sake of justice and fairness.
He explained that when President Muhammadu Buhari completes his moment term in 2023, his successor should emerge from the Southward.
“There are 3 political parties in the Southern Governors’ Forum: the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Peoples Democratic Political party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“All of us are unanimous in our place that the next president of this country must come up from the Southward.
“I believe that whatever political party that picks somebody from the Due north would have to face the whole southern part because they will not back up it.
“We are saying that there must be what I will call up rotation. The justice of it and the fairness in it is what we are preaching. Whether President Buhari has been in business office for 8 years, it can’t be from the Due north. The next president must come up from the Southward,” Akeredolu said.
