The former Governor of Jigawa Province and chieftain in the main opposition People’s Democratic Political party (PDP), Alhaji Sule Lamido, said it is not possible for the political party to zone its presidential ticket to the S in the coming 2023 election.
Lamido stated this in his interview with BBC Hausa service nowadays.
He said it would not be possible because of the personal involvement of some few individuals.
This followed the choice of the PDP Zonal Commission, chaired by Governor of Enugu Province, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, to place the business office of the PDP National Chairman to Due north.
The choice prompted many speculations that the choice is meant to zone the presidential ticket to the S.
Although the commission said the zoning of the business office of President and Vice President is not section of its mandate.
Spell reacting to the evolution, Lamido said it may not be a job whether the choice is meant to revive the acceptability and popularity of the political party in the northern section of the country
Lamido said but whether the choice is meant to zone the 2023 presidential candidate to the southern section of the country that would not be acceptable.
“What brings this issue is because the southern PDP and APC Governors agreed that president most comes from the Southern section of the country.
“There is no compulsion in politics everybody has equal rights and whether you said you want your possess, so everybody has his possess as good.
“So unity and progress of the country is the most important aspect not whatever section of the country.
“This happened 20 years dorsum when PDP picked Obasanjo and prevented whatever candidate from Due north but it was done not by forcefulness is because it’s the solution to the country’s state of affairs and for the futurity, progress and peaceful coexistence of the whole country,” Lamido stated.
